Fortunite private game server

Host the Cult Game on an affordable vServer

The free multiplayer online shooter belongs to the most popular games among young people. Today, great graphics and free gaming are often no longer enough to reach a large fan base and earn a lot of money.

Only when the game system motivates people to stay tuned, when the game itself offers creative possibilities and when pop cultural phenomena such as dance movements from current music videos find their way via the game to the playground is the game sure to attract widespread attention.

Since Fortnite has practically all of these characteristics, it has achieved cult status with younger gamers relatively quickly and finds its place in countless instagram- and snapchat timelines, Youtube videos and streaming portals.

Collect, build, hide, fight …

Fortnite is both simple and complex. The rules are easy to understand, but especially in the well-played mode “Battle Royale” you need a sophisticated strategy. Otherwise, as one out of every 100 participants, you can’t survive on the island for too long. The goal is to be the last to survive on an increasingly narrow field. For this purpose you can build hiding places with dismantled resources, and of course you have to eliminate your enemies. So the chances of survival are rather low in every round. Fortnite players practice dealing with defeats on the one hand, but on the other hand they certainly need a good portion of stress resistance.

The story is quite simple, but Fortnite isn’t a superficial shooter game. Rather, the young generation finds many components in the game that are current in their world and in their current development: It is important for them to be able to meet and exchange ideas without adult supervision. They want to hear exciting stories and experience great adventures. They want to discover and create worlds. At the same time they want to try out what it’s like to be someone else. This could be, for example, a dangerous pirate, a fantastic being or even a representative of the opposite sex. And of course you want to compete with others: to find out who is faster and more clever, simply better.

Even if you can experience all these things in a different, analogue context, the possibility of doing it digitally seems to have a certain advantage. In a digital world, shy children and adolescents in particular are more likely to try out new things and realize themselves in other ways.

Time is running out …

So you are on a paradise island – collecting, building, hiding, fighting and time is running out. And runs away. A half hour is fast (a game usually lasts about 20 minutes), soon an hour and fast once a whole afternoon is over.

Yes, Fortnite is a time waster! Even more than other computer games or apps. Especially for parents this is a challenge. It is therefore worthwhile to arrange play times and/or play days with children and teenagers. Ideally, the children and teenagers should have a say in decisions, so it is easier for them to follow the rules. Setting fixed screen times according to age often does not seem to be the right thing to do, despite the many guideline values on the Internet. Especially with Fortnite not, because a game consists of one round. So it makes more sense to define the duration in rounds instead of calculating in minutes. Because having to break off a game in the middle of it often only causes even more frustration. Since children and young people react differently to screen media, parents should negotiate their own framework conditions with their children.

Glorification of Violence?

The aspect of violence is certainly an issue in the context of Fortnite in that the weapons are similar to their real role models and the overriding goal is to remain on the island as the last one by shooting at others and “beaming” them off the island. The violence, however, is not explicitly depicted and is therefore similar to that in animated films shown on television on Sunday mornings. Fighting and shooting also take place there. Of course with the difference that you intervene in the game itself. This “happening” can certainly be compared to the mutual shooting in a dodgeball game in the gym.

A further disadvantage or danger lurks in the possibility of making in-game purchases. The developers of Fortnite earn money with this function. So you can buy dance moves for your avatar or so-called skins, i.e. the look of the character or weapons. However, these functions are irrelevant for the gaming experience. However, the products offered are interesting for children and teenagers.

Because with a changed look of the character you can attract attention in the net and on the playground, which can put other players under pressure. Soon 100 francs are invested in the game currency V-Bucks. It is therefore advisable to block payment options without parental control on mobile phones, tablets and other devices or to deactivate the in-app function.

In order to understand how the game affects you, it is important to watch a game yourself and have it explained to you. Children and adolescents love to explain something to an adult of whom they have hardly any idea. Ideally, you should play along yourself! Often this will put some concerns into perspective and maybe even make you enjoy playing yourself!

And if you find: “Now is enough played!”, it is important not only to offer restrictions, but also attractive (offline) alternatives. You can also let a child or a teenager know that boredom is not a life-threatening condition.
What next?

Fortnite enjoys a high pop-cultural status thanks to its ability to pick up on current trends. The makers know how to ride the wave of success and keep the players happy. The innovation “creative mode” could mean an even stronger popularity boost for the game. Since December you can create your own maps (islands) and skins and pass them on to the manufacturer Epic Games. The manufacturer then decides together with the community which cards will be released. This will probably exert an even stronger attraction on young gamers.
