Vultr.com VPS Review
Vultr is generally one of the most recommended VPS providers, especially in certain niches like cryptocurrency MasterNode hosting or game hosting. They are especially popular in terms of self-managed vServers since they not only have cheap offers with good performance but also an easy user interface that makes the whole setup fairly easy and comfortable.
Vultr was only founded in 2014, just like Virmach, which makes it a fairly young player on the market, yet a powerful one. They could build more than 15 data centers around the globe in just a couple of years and are constantly expanding their reach.
The big web hosting provider offers powerful cloud servers with 100% SSD storage and Intel CPUs. Demanding customers can get a fully automated dedicated server (bare metal, without any virtualization layer) or a dedicated cloud server (virtual server without resource sharing with other people). Customers who just need a secure external data storage can get that for cheap as well.
One interesting thing at Vultr is that they offer hourly pricing as well as monthly pricing. A feature we otherwise only know from Linode. So if you don’t need a vServer all the time, you can choose to pay only for the hours you use it.
Vultr.com VPS
Here we come to the main reason why this webhosting service is that popular. Their VPS packages start at $2.5 per month only for self managed VPS and you already get 20GB, 512MB RAM, and 0.5 TB bandwidth for that price. For many projects that’s already sufficient and $2.5 is a price that literally hurts nobody. Not to mention what you already get for $5 per month only:
When it comes to Operating Systems they don’t differ between Windows and Linux VPS packages. At all their plans you can choose the OS you need, be it Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, FreeBSD, CoreOS, Fedora or even Windows.
Vultr Dedicated Servers
Vultr’s pricing for dedicated servers is also very competitive as yuo will hardly find a cheaper offer than $60 for a system with 8 GB Memory, 120 GB storage, 2 CPUs and 10TB bandwidth.
Customer Service
In terms of customer support it’s remarkable that Vultr doesn’t offer a 24/7 live chat, which is definitely a point they should work on. They seem to prefer contact via ticket support. Still you can expect a fast reply which should not extend a couple of hours maximum, usually way faster.
Bottomline
Vultr is an ambitious provider which a very high level of professionalism. What you get are high performance servers at low cost. Generally the provider has a good name, so there is not much to complain about. The missing live chat support is the only thing worth mentioning when it comes to downsides of the service.
